Very young leaves and buds are picked and allowed to wither, which gives the tea a pleasant intensity with silver hairs on the leaf. When infused the leaves give a deep apricot coloured, aromatic liquor; the flavour is floral and fruity with delicate notes.
Okayti Tea Estate was planted during the 1870's at elevations around 6000ft. Till this day it is one of the most scenic estates in Darjeeling. Initially the teas from this estate were highly acclaimed at London auctions, due to which they came to be called as ‘the only okay tea’, subsequently led to it being rechristened as was Okayti.
