Each spring, tea enthusiasts eagerly await the arrival of Darjeeling First Flush, the initial harvest of tea plants that have been dormant throughout the winter. This unique style of tea is carefully hand-picked from the mountainous region at the foothills of the Himalayas, which is renowned for its dramatic landscape and distinctive teas.
Singbulli Tea Estate was established by British planters in 1924 and is located near the town of Mirik, in the Mirik Valley. The garden altitude ranges from approximately 400 to 1,300 metres. Singbulli Tea Estate produces some fabulous teas and is especially famous for First Flush chinary teas. This batch of Singbulli First Flush is made exclusively with leaves from the Chinary variety of the tea bushes. The leaf features light-oxidized tippy leaf with presence of tips along with leaves in various hues of green. Brewing the tea results in a bright liquor with excellent clarity and a light mineral fragrance. The flavor is smooth, with floral and verdant notes complemented by creamy and fruity undertones. The tea has a slightly drying floral aspect that contributes to its mineral flavor, which is nicely balanced by lightly sweet fruity top notes. The aftertaste maintains the mineral aspect, finishing with a zesty honey note. This Darjeeling is very light and smooth, without significant dryness or astringency, making it perfect to enjoy on its own or as part of an afternoon tea.
